Why is the young Beckett forced to give up the academic life and inevitably driven to write? The play questions our own natures' dark forces in this particular artistic quest. How do love, rollicking humor, pathos, arrogance, insanity and festering pustules help us understand ourselves, our world and an art to which we are inescapably drawn?
